en.Wedoany.com Reported - Avelo Airlines has announced the launch of commercial air service at McKinney National Airport (DTX) in Texas, becoming the first and only hometown airline in Collin County. The service is scheduled to begin on Veterans Day, November 11, 2026, offering nonstop flights to Las Vegas, Nevada (LAS), as well as Fort Lauderdale (FLL), Fort Myers (RSW), Orlando (MCO), and Tampa (TPA) in Florida.

Avelo Airlines has introduced promotional one-way fares starting at $99. Travelers can book by July 31 and enjoy free first checked bag. Avelo Airlines founder and CEO Andrew Levy expressed excitement about being McKinney's first and primary airline, emphasizing everyday low fares, the convenience of DTX, and industry-leading on-time performance as key attractions for travelers. McKinney Mayor Bill Cox and McKinney National Airport Director Ken Carley also welcomed the new service, stating it will meet local demand for convenient air travel and solidify McKinney's position as a destination for residents, businesses, and investment. Ken Carley revealed that a new passenger terminal will open in November 2026.

According to flight information, departures from DTX will cover multiple destinations: Las Vegas flights begin November 12, operating four times weekly; Fort Lauderdale flights begin November 19, operating five times weekly; Fort Myers flights begin November 11, operating twice weekly; Orlando flights begin November 12, operating five times weekly; and Tampa flights begin November 19, operating four times weekly.

As part of its investment and development in Collin County, Avelo will inaugurate its McKinney base on November 11, 2026, with an initial investment deploying two Boeing Next-Generation 737 aircraft, creating over 100 jobs for pilots, flight attendants, aircraft technicians, and airport personnel.

Since its inaugural flight on April 28, 2021, as the first new commercial scheduled airline in the U.S. in nearly 15 years, Avelo Airlines has transported nearly 10 million customers and operated nearly 80,000 flights. Currently, the airline serves 37 destinations across 15 states and two destinations in Puerto Rico. By using smaller, less congested airports in metropolitan areas, Avelo Airlines offers travelers departure points closer to home, saving on parking and other costs. Additionally, the company provides value-added services such as seat selection, the Avelo PLUS membership program, and the Avelo Airlines World Elite Mastercard. According to third-party data platform Anuvu, Avelo Airlines is one of the leading U.S. airlines in on-time performance and reliability. The airline operates a fleet of 16 Boeing Next-Generation 737 aircraft and plans to become the first U.S. airline to operate the Embraer 195-E2 in 2028, featuring a 2x2 layout with 140 seats and no middle seats. Avelo Airlines ordered up to 100 Embraer E195-E2 aircraft in September 2025.
