Indonesian telecommunications operator Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison has completed the spin-off of its fiber business, establishing an independent wholesale infrastructure company named Infra Fiber Teknologi (IFT). Supported by Indosat and Arsari Group, IFT focuses on expanding fiber infrastructure to provide open access connectivity services to telecom operators and enterprises across Indonesia. The transaction completes Indosat's fiber divestiture strategy, enabling the company to monetize infrastructure assets while retaining a significant minority stake, with proceeds allocated to 5G, artificial intelligence, and broader digital transformation initiatives. This move is expected to accelerate nationwide broadband deployment through a specialized fiber infrastructure platform, strengthening Indonesia's digital connectivity ecosystem.

Malaysia's U Mobile has successfully migrated all its customers to its own nationwide ULTRA 5G network after terminating its wholesale access agreement with Digital Nasional Berhad (DNB) effective July 1, 2026. This development makes U Mobile a fully independent 5G network operator, with its ULTRA5G network now covering over 85% of the country's populated areas. Since deployment began in July 2025, the operator has also installed more than 190 indoor coverage sites, with plans to expand this number to over 600. This transition enables U Mobile to independently offer 5G services, launch new products, and enhance customer experience, while supporting the development of Malaysia's dual-network 5G landscape.
