en.Wedoany.com Reported - Groupe Mutuel has entered into a strategic partnership with artificial intelligence company Mistral AI. The Valais-based insurer announced this collaboration shortly after Mistral AI opened its first branch in Switzerland.

In its announcement, the insurer stated that it is the first Swiss company and insurer to partner with this provider specializing in open-source AI solutions. The collaboration aims to strengthen internal capabilities and promote an AI culture within the group. Together, they will explore specific use cases for the insurance business, particularly in underwriting and claims processing for personal pension insurance.
Groupe Mutuel hopes to accelerate AI deployment through this partnership while reducing reliance on non-European solutions. According to the announcement, the tools used will operate in an environment compliant with Swiss and European data protection standards.
Insurers experimenting with AI is nothing new. In fall 2025, Zurich Insurance, together with the University of St. Gallen and ETH Zurich, established the Zurich AI Lab. The lab aims to develop new AI solutions for the insurance industry and study the transformative impact of AI on the sector.
