en.Wedoany.com Reported - South Tyrol Transport Structure Company (STA) has put the first Alstom Coradia Stream electric multiple unit (EMU) into regular passenger service on the Vinschger Bahn railway. The train, operating on the Vinschgau Valley line connecting Merano and Mals, entered service following the completion of planning and preparatory work related to the line's electrification.

According to STA, the new train features 381 seats, a power output of approximately 3,000 kW, a maximum design speed of 160 km/h, and multi-system operational capability. The deployment of this train marks a significant step in upgrading regional railway services in South Tyrol, aimed at supporting further development of rail services on the Vinschgau line and other parts of the South Tyrol network.

STA stated that this Coradia Stream train will primarily be used for daily passenger services on the Vinschger Bahn. The new train offers improvements in passenger capacity and comfort compared to existing models, catering to the growing travel demand along the route. As a key addition to the regional transport network, the train will effectively enhance travel conditions in the Vinschgau Valley.

The Coradia Stream train now in service is part of STA's plan to modernize South Tyrol's railway network. With the completion of electrification and the introduction of the new train, passenger service capacity on the Vinschger Bahn has been strengthened, providing more convenient travel options for residents and tourists along the line.
