en.Wedoany.com Reported - The Hammersmith & Fulham Council has appointed Higgins Partnerships as the main contractor for the redevelopment of Avonmore Primary School, which will deliver a new school building and 91 mixed-tenure homes in West London.
The new facility will replace the existing school, featuring dedicated Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) support spaces, enhanced outdoor play areas, and a modern learning environment. In addition to the educational facilities, the project will provide 91 homes, half of which are designated as affordable housing, prioritized for eligible local residents.
Designed by BPTW in collaboration with school architects Walter & Cohen, the project includes 2,297 square meters of flexible teaching space and over 1,500 square meters of outdoor play areas spread across three levels, including a rooftop play space. The plan also includes two residential buildings designed to harmonize with the surrounding streetscape.
The project is designed to net-zero standards, aiming for a 74% reduction in operational carbon emissions, with the remaining emissions offset. Sustainable measures include green roofs on all buildings, approximately 100 solar panels, and new tree planting within the surrounding community. The school is also targeting a BREEAM Excellent rating.
