en.Wedoany.com Reported - Spanish infrastructure company Ferrovial plans to build a data center campus in Alcobendas with a design capacity exceeding 100 megawatts and a total investment of over €1 billion. Madrid regional president Isabel Díaz Ayuso announced that the project will further consolidate the Madrid region's position as the area with the highest number of high-tech companies and data centers in Spain, ranking second in Europe in terms of professional talent.

This future technology complex has already obtained favorable reports on urban planning, digital strategy, and energy transition, as well as an earthwork permit, paving the way for construction to begin. The first phase of the campus is expected to achieve 60 megawatts of power and create 50 direct permanent jobs. The project has been declared a Special Interest Project (Proyecto de Especial Interés) by the Regional Investment Accelerator (Aceleradora de Inversiones regional), which aims to expedite and coordinate all administrative procedures for large-scale infrastructure.

Since its establishment in 2023, the Investment Accelerator has announced 17 special interest projects, with a total investment of nearly €9 billion, creating over 5,000 jobs. Among these, 11 are data processing centers, 4 involve the biopharmaceutical sector, 1 is a renewable energy project, and 1 is a logistics project; in addition, there are four reserve projects under feasibility study.
