Wedoany.com Report-May 10, The New York state government has announced the completion of a $22m renovation project at Robert H. Dietz Memorial Stadium in the City of Kingston, US, as part of the city’s Downtown Revitalization Initiative.
The project, which began with a $2.5m contribution from the initiative’s award, has significantly upgraded the stadium’s infrastructure and facilities.
New York governor Kathy Hochul said: “The revitalisation of Dietz Stadium marks a new era for the City of Kingston – where state-of-the-art athletic facilities meet community pride and regional opportunity.
“Through our Downtown Revitalization Initiative, we’ve transformed this historic venue into a modern hub for sports, recreation and public gatherings, all while preserving its legacy and strengthening accessibility, sustainability and economic vitality for generations to come.”
The renovation of Dietz Stadium, a 2,000-seat facility known for hosting organised sporting events, included both interior and exterior upgrades.
The stadium, which serves as a hub for Kingston City School athletics and the semiprofessional Kingston Stockade Football Club, now boasts new locker rooms, athletic facilities, and a modernised track and turf field.
The project also focused on enhancing the stadium with new parking areas, concession stands, restroom facilities, a scoreboard, and LED stadium lighting.
The stadium is both a venue for competitive sports and a recreational space for the community, with its grounds, pool, basketball court, and track frequently used by the public.
The restoration of the larger complex included the Andretta Pool Improvements Project, which started in early 2020 and was completed in 2023.

The 2,000-seat Dietz Stadium, a key venue for Kingston City School athletics and the semiprofessional Kingston Stockade Football Club, underwent extensive upgrades. Enhancements include new locker rooms, modern athletic facilities, a revamped track and turf field, additional parking, concession stands, restrooms, a new scoreboard, and energy-efficient LED lighting. These improvements ensure the stadium meets contemporary standards for competitive sports and community use.
The stadium serves as both a competitive sports venue and a recreational hub, with its grounds, pool, basketball court, and track open to the public. The project also encompassed the Andretta Pool Improvements, completed in 2023 after starting in 2020. This phase included a new roof, masonry repairs, pool lining upgrades, a new pump and filter system, and a splash pad at the pool house, enhancing community access to recreational amenities.
Further upgrades to Dietz Stadium included a renovated grandstand, improved accessibility features, a 50-yard line access tunnel, new benches, an enhanced press box, and expanded storage facilities. These changes improve functionality and visitor experience while supporting the stadium’s role as a community and economic asset.
The completion of Dietz Stadium’s renovation follows other regional infrastructure milestones, such as the $2.1 billion Highmark Stadium project, which marked a key construction phase in April 2025.
