Singtel Becomes First Asian Telco to Offer iPhone 5G Network Slicing

Wedoany.com Report-May 20, Singtel has become the first telecommunications company in Asia to introduce network slicing for enterprise users on supported iPhone and iPad models. This new feature is designed to improve the performance of business applications by offering seamless and uninterrupted connectivity, even in areas with high network traffic.

With this capability, enterprise users can utilize a dedicated slice of Singtel’s 5G network for specific applications that use Apple’s traffic categories such as Streaming and Communication. It also supports applications managed through compatible Mobile Device Management (MDM) platforms. The technology is based on User Equipment Route Selection Policy, allowing prioritization of data traffic and allocation of dedicated network resources to critical applications.

Singtel will provide a specific network slice tailored for voice and video-based productivity applications. This includes platforms such as Microsoft Teams, Zoom, FaceTime, WhatsApp, and other business tools managed through MDM. The goal is to meet the connectivity needs of enterprises across different sectors.

The service is available on iPhone 14 and newer models running iOS 18.2 or later, as well as on selected iPad models that support iPadOS 18.2 or later.
