Data shows that in 2025, global battery energy storage installations exceeded 320 GWh, with Chinese companies accounting for 76% of the global market share. North-central Chile is one of the world's most resource-rich regions for photovoltaic power generation, with the share of solar power continuing to rise. The high penetration of renewable energy brings grid integration challenges: excess electricity during peak solar generation hours in the daytime and insufficient supply during evening peak demand hours. This supply-demand mismatch leads to electricity price fluctuations and grid frequency instability, hindering renewable energy consumption. The four project sites also face multiple environmental challenges, including high seismic risk, strong wind and sand erosion, and seasonal humidity levels reaching up to 100%.

Jinko Energy Storage adopts the 0.25P 5MWh SunTera liquid-cooled energy storage system, with a total project capacity of 340.2 MW/1609 MWh and a designed charge-discharge duration of approximately 5 hours. The system stores surplus photovoltaic electricity during the day and releases it during peak nighttime hours, helping to reduce curtailment and smooth peak-valley differences. The AC-coupled design allows the energy storage system to independently connect to the photovoltaic plant substation, enabling flexible deployment and coordinated dispatch across the four sites. The system features millisecond-level dynamic response capability, enabling high-precision execution of grid frequency regulation and voltage support commands.

In terms of environmental adaptability, the system integrates advanced seismic design compliant with IEEE 693 standards, strong wind and sand protection, and adaptive intelligent thermal management to control condensation risks under 100% humidity conditions. On the safety front, self-developed BMS logic, early thermal runaway warning, and fire protection strategies compliant with international standards such as NFPA 69 and UL 9540 work in coordination, providing multi-layered safety assurance for GWh-level operations. After project delivery, quantifiable value will be created in areas such as improved grid stability, reduced curtailment rates, and optimized lifecycle operation and maintenance costs.

The Wood Mackenzie report points out that global energy storage competition has moved beyond single price and capacity battles. Comprehensive capabilities such as policy compliance, technological innovation, and financing support are becoming key determinants of a company's long-term survival.
