en.Wedoany.com Reported - Schneider Electric has formed a strategic alliance with energy technology company Kraken to jointly develop solutions for power utilities and distribution system operators (DSOs), aiming to enhance grid flexibility and visibility, accelerate the integration of data centers and large industrial loads, and fully utilize existing capacity without long-term infrastructure construction.

The collaboration will focus on grid monitoring, congestion forecasting, and real-time demand management. Schneider Electric believes that platforms such as One Digital Grid Platform and EcoStruxure DERMS can provide operators with real-time visibility into grid constraints; Kraken, through its artificial intelligence platform, integrates distributed energy resources, electric vehicles, home batteries, heat pumps, and industrial loads to enable load shifting and real-time grid balancing. The two companies state that these capabilities help optimize the use of existing infrastructure, defer new grid investments, and curb electricity costs for consumers and industrial users.
Analysts estimate that the global value of demand flexibility in the commercial and industrial sectors could reach $1 trillion annually. In 2024 alone, data center electricity consumption was approximately 415 TWh, and this is expected to double by 2030. Traditional solutions often rely on large-scale infrastructure expansion, which is costly, time-consuming, and leads to delayed connections and rising costs. The new alliance aims to address this bottleneck through software and platform-based approaches.
Kraken CEO Amir Orad stated that accelerating flexibility means accelerating energy access, and artificial intelligence is both a driver of demand growth and a tool for revolutionizing grid capabilities. Frédéric Godemel, Executive Vice President of Energy Management at Schneider Electric, noted that the goal is to create interoperable energy systems, and by combining with partners like Kraken, help customers reduce complexity, unlock underutilized capacity, and generate value earlier.
