California High-Speed Rail Authority and HDC JPA Sign Memorandum of Cooperation for Palmdale Station
en.Wedoany.com Reported - The California High-Speed Rail Authority (CHSRA) and the High Desert Corridor Joint Powers Authority (HDC JPA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to enhance coordination on environmental assessment, station integration, and design work for the Palmdale Station.
CHSRA CEO Ian Choudri stated that track laying, electrification, and system installation in the Central Valley will commence later this year, and the new cooperation agreement highlights the shared commitment of all parties to building a clean, modern transportation system. HDC JPA Chair Kathryn Barger noted that the signing of the memorandum is a key step in advancing California's fully electrified high-speed rail network, and coordinated planning in Palmdale will lay the foundation for connecting Southern California to the statewide rail system.
Regarding project progress, the Merced-to-Bakersfield mainline is in the design and construction phase, with nearly 90 miles of track laid, 61 major structures completed, and 30 more under construction across Madera, Fresno, Kings, and Tulare counties. In the 494-mile San Francisco-to-Los Angeles/Anaheim system, 463 miles have completed environmental review and are ready for construction.
