China's Lufeng Nuclear Power Unit 2 Completes Hoisting of 1,019-Ton CA01 Module

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On July 21, the CA01 module of Lufeng Nuclear Power Unit 2, constructed by China Nuclear Industry 23 Construction Co., Ltd., was smoothly and precisely hoisted into place, marking the official entry of the unit into the parallel phase of nuclear island structural construction and equipment installation.

The CA01 module houses two steam generator compartments, a refueling pool, and a pressurizer compartment, encompassing all rooms for the primary circuit equipment of the nuclear island, with stringent design and construction standards. The module is T-shaped overall, assembled from 47 prefabricated sub-modules, with a total hoisting weight (including rigging) of 1,019 tons, making it the largest, heaviest, and most structurally complex module in the nuclear island.

 

To ensure the safety and one-time success of the entire hoisting process, the Lufeng Nuclear Power Project Department collaborated with the Nuclear Reactor Company to form an expert team. Addressing the four major challenges of "complex structure, ultra-heavy weight, center of gravity deviation, and millimeter-level positioning accuracy," they overcame each through technological innovation and refined control: To resolve the T-shaped center of gravity deviation, the team used laser scanning technology to digitally replicate the full-size module, accurately calculating the actual center of gravity coordinates. Based on this, they designed a multi-point specialized hoisting system and a three-stage balance beam, pre-leveling the module to ensure uniform load distribution and stable, controllable posture during lifting and rotation; to prevent deformation of thin-walled panels during hoisting, analysis software simulated the entire process in advance, identifying stress concentration areas and adding steel supports; facing the difficulty of a narrow installation area with minimal clearance from surrounding embedded parts, they combined contour line inspection with 3D scanning collision detection to identify and address collision points in advance, optimized the hoisting path, and installed high-precision guide devices and guide columns, ultimately controlling the module installation error within millimeter levels, achieving precise placement.

 

The completion of this hoisting has opened up all professional construction pathways within the nuclear island of Unit 2, laying the foundation for subsequent equipment installation, pipeline welding, and system commissioning.
