The new routes depart from four Canadian airports—Calgary (YYC), Halifax (YHZ), Montreal (YUL), and Toronto (YYZ)—with some destinations served by multiple airports simultaneously.

According to the latest flight schedule data from aviation data analytics firm Cirium, these new routes involve a variety of aircraft types, including the Boeing 737 MAX 8, 737-700, 737-800, and the Dash 8, with some international routes operated on behalf of WestJet by Sunwing Airlines and WestJet Encore.

By departure city, Calgary gains 5 new destinations: Campbell River, Guadalajara, Mazatlan, North Bay, and Sault Ste. Marie; Halifax gains 3 new destinations: Copenhagen, Lisbon, and Madrid; Montreal gains 3 new destinations: Cozumel, Mazatlan, and Samana; and Toronto gains 4 new destinations: Cardiff, Glasgow, Ponta Delgada, and Samana. Mazatlan and Samana are each served from two airports, bringing the total to 13 unique destinations.

The trend of narrow-body twin-engine jets operating long-haul transatlantic routes has strengthened in recent years, and Halifax Stanfield Airport, located in northeastern Nova Scotia, has become WestJet's frontier for expanding into the European market. In the third quarter of this year, the airport added three new destinations—Copenhagen (CPH), Lisbon (LIS), and Madrid (MAD)—all launched in May of this year with the Boeing 737 MAX 8.

In terms of flight frequency, in the third quarter of 2026, Halifax–Copenhagen will operate 4 times weekly, Halifax–Madrid 4 times weekly, and Halifax–Lisbon 5 times weekly. The airport adds three new European routes this time—Cardiff (CWL) in Wales, Glasgow (GLA) in Scotland, and Ponta Delgada (PDL) in Portugal's Azores—also operated with the Boeing 737 MAX 8, each flying 4 times weekly for most of the third quarter.

Toronto also adds a new route to Samana El Catey International Airport (AZS) in the Dominican Republic, operated by Sunwing Airlines' Boeing 737 aircraft, with 1 weekly flight in the third quarter. Montreal Trudeau Airport also launches a Samana route, likewise operated by Sunwing Airlines' 737 aircraft on behalf of WestJet. Additionally, Montreal adds two new Mexican routes—Cozumel (CZM) and Mazatlan (MZT)—both operated by Sunwing Airlines' 737 aircraft.

Calgary International Airport in Alberta also adds both domestic and international routes. Domestically, WestJet operates flights from Calgary to North Bay (YYB) and Sault Ste. Marie (YAM) in Ontario using multiple Boeing 737 family aircraft types, and uses WestJet Encore's Dash 8 turboprop aircraft for the route to Campbell River (YBL).

Internationally, Calgary adds two Mexican destinations—Guadalajara (GDL) and Mazatlan—both operating 1 weekly flight in the third quarter of 2026. The Mazatlan route is operated entirely by the 737-800, while the Guadalajara route is served by a mix of 737-700 and 737-800 aircraft.
