en.Wedoany.com Reported - Acciona has completed the refurbishment and expansion of the Tróia wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) in the municipality of Grândola, increasing the wastewater treatment capacity of the Tróia peninsula to the equivalent of waste generated by 16,500 residents.

The project, developed for TroiaResort, includes civil works, technical implementation, and infrastructure commissioning. In a statement released this Wednesday, Acciona stated that the facility treats an average of 4,356 cubic meters of wastewater per day.

During the first six months of operation, Acciona will be responsible for the plant's operation and maintenance. The project also involved the Grândola City Council, Infratroia, as well as TPF and Progesteam, which provided construction supervision.

The refurbished wastewater treatment plant uses membrane bioreactor (MBR) technology, enabling the production of reclaimed water for irrigation of the golf course and other green areas of the tourism project.

Acciona stated that this solution helps strengthen sustainable water resource management in the region, enhances resilience to periods of water scarcity, and supports the sustainable development of the Tróia peninsula. The company, whose operations span infrastructure, renewable energy, and water management, added that this project further advances its commitment to optimizing water resources and promoting more circular and resilient management models.
