en.Wedoany.com Reported - On August 10, UAE's ADNOC Gas made a final investment decision on Phases 2 and 3 of the Rich Gas Development project and awarded two engineering, procurement, and construction contracts totaling $8.2 billion. The investments will be used to expand natural gas processing facilities and build a natural gas liquids fractionation unit, respectively.

Among them, the Phase 2 contract of the Rich Gas Development project is valued at $3.9 billion and will be executed by Wison Engineering, which will build a new natural gas processing train at the Habshan facilities to increase processing capacity and enhance operational flexibility. The new capacity will receive rich gas resources released from upstream oil and gas fields and provide feedstock for the UAE's petrochemical and downstream industries.
The Phase 3 contract is valued at $4.3 billion and will be executed by Italy's Tecnimont, with construction scope including a new natural gas liquids fractionation unit at Ruwais. This unit will separate and recover natural gas liquids from rich gas, increasing export supply capacity for liquefied petroleum gas and other high-value liquids.
Phase 1 of the Rich Gas Development project reached its final investment decision in June 2025, with total contracts worth $5 billion, involving expansion and debottlenecking of facilities at Asab, Bu Hasa, Habshan, and Das Island. With Phases 2 and 3 contracts in place, cumulative investment across the three project phases has reached $13.2 billion, forming an expansion system spanning feed gas reception, natural gas processing, and liquids fractionation.
The project will complement ADNOC's upstream capacity expansion by processing new associated gas and rich gas resources, while increasing natural gas liquids exports and petrochemical feedstock supply. ADNOC Gas currently plans to invest approximately $28 billion between 2026 and 2030 to advance natural gas processing, pipeline networks, and LNG projects, with the Rich Gas Development project being one of its major capital projects.
