Managed by the Rwanda Space Agency, the program will leverage Planet's near-daily satellite data archive to support agriculture and food security monitoring, forest health and resilience tracking, urban planning and zoning optimization, as well as inform disaster planning, response, and recovery efforts.

Under the program, Planet's imagery and data will be made available to public universities for undergraduate training and advanced research in Rwanda's Earth observation sector. Additionally, select startups focused on national priorities and collaborating with government agencies will be able to utilize Planet's daily data stream for projects related to inclusive economic development.

Andrew Zolli, Planet's Chief Impact Officer, stated that Rwanda stands out in African technological innovation and consistently demonstrates how technology drives national progress; this program showcases how Planet's daily satellite data can directly support multiple national goals, including improving disaster planning, developing educational programs, and protecting natural resources.

Planet data supports a wide range of civilian applications for government partners, covering disaster preparedness and response, urban planning and development, agriculture, and resource management.
