This investment direction aligns with Ministerial Resolution No. 310-2026-MINEM/DM recently issued by Peru's Ministry of Energy and Mines, which designates projects that enhance fuel storage capacity as projects of sectoral interest.
At the Trujillo plant, Solgas is executing an investment project totaling over $2 million, adding three new storage tanks to increase storage capacity from 264,000 gallons to 462,000 gallons, a 75% increase. Upon completion of the expansion, the northern region's dispatch self-sufficiency days will extend from 3.5 days to 6 days, ensuring supply continuity for La Libertad, Lambayeque, Cajamarca, and Áncash even in the event of port closures due to rough seas or road blockages.
Meanwhile, the company is conducting engineering and risk assessment studies for the construction of a fourth storage sphere at the Ventanilla terminal. This project plans to add 4,800 metric tons of reserve in its first phase, further building on the plant's existing reserve of 16,600 metric tons.
Solgas stated that these projects reflect its commitment to strengthening Peru's energy infrastructure through concrete investments. Given that the country's average fuel storage capacity currently stands at only approximately three days, the designation of projects of sectoral interest holds positive significance for the development of strategic infrastructure. The relevant investments will be officially launched upon obtaining the necessary permits.
Solgas General Manager Mario Matuk stated that Peru needs to consolidate a robust LPG supply system, and the company has concrete investments and projects advancing this goal, including the ongoing expansion of the Trujillo plant and the planned fourth storage sphere at Ventanilla, to benefit the Peruvian people and the nation's productive activities.
Solgas also emphasized that these infrastructure assets will complement its regional logistics system, enabling the company to mobilize relief vessels from international markets during emergencies to provide uninterrupted service to residential, commercial, and industrial users nationwide, contributing to Peru's energy security.
