Xinjiang Jinlin Huike 3GWh Lithium Battery Project in China Breaks Ground on August 21, with Phase I Investment of 360 Million Yuan

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On August 21, the 3GWh annual-capacity cylindrical lithium-ion battery project of Xinjiang Jinlin Huike Energy Technology Co., Ltd. broke ground at the New Building Materials Economic and Technological Development Zone of the 11th Division (Construction Division) of the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps (XPCC). The project was introduced through the coordination of Jianzi Group. Once completed, it will fill the production capacity gap in the large-capacity, high-performance lithium-ion battery cell manufacturing sector in Xinjiang and provide support for the vertical extension of the XPCC's new energy industry chain.

On March 19 this year, Jinlin Huike signed an investment agreement with the park, and after several months of preparation, the project entered the construction phase. The total investment for Phase I is 360 million yuan, covering a planned land area of 101 mu (approximately 6.73 hectares), with a total building area of 44,520.9 square meters. The technical roadmap adopts a dual-track approach combining NCM (nickel-cobalt-manganese) and lithium iron phosphate (LFP) chemistries, with the NCM system planned for 2GWh of capacity and the LFP system for 1GWh. The products cover three cylindrical specifications: 18650, 21700, and 32140. The NCM series targets power application scenarios such as power tools and light electric vehicles, while the LFP series targets high-safety, long-cycle applications including source-grid-side energy storage, residential and commercial/industrial outdoor power supplies.

Jinlin Huike is a state-controlled joint venture, co-owned by Huashang Huike (Shandong) Investment Co., Ltd. and Qiliyuan New Energy (Guangdong) Co., Ltd. The former is responsible for capital allocation and regional resource coordination, while the latter contributes core lithium battery manufacturing processes and mass production management expertise, providing support for production line ramp-up, process iteration, and market expansion.

As a flagship project driving the park's transformation toward new energy and new materials, this project marks a leap from zero to one in the XPCC's local lithium battery cell manufacturing capabilities. With the realization of cell production capacity, upstream and downstream segments—including cathode and anode materials, separators, electrolytes, structural components, and energy storage system integration—are expected to accelerate their agglomeration in the park, gradually shaping the regional new energy industry ecosystem. Once fully operational, the project is expected to achieve an annual output value exceeding 1 billion yuan and create hundreds of jobs spanning R&D engineering, cell process technology, equipment maintenance, and production management.

Going forward, the 11th Division of the XPCC and the park management committee will strengthen full-process resource guarantees, driving the project toward early completion, early commissioning, and early results in line with construction milestones. Upon completion, the project will help extend the XPCC's new energy industry from the application end to the manufacturing end, seize the opportunity window for new energy development in western China, and serve the national goals of carbon peak, carbon neutrality, and energy security.
