en.Wedoany.com Reported - Greenvolt Group has secured a €218 million financing package from UniCredit to support the development of two battery energy storage system (BESS) projects in Poland. The package includes a €153 million bridge loan facility and a €65 million guarantee facility.

The two projects are located in northeastern Poland, with the Ełk and Turośń Kościelna projects combining for a total capacity of 400 MW/1.6 GWh, with each facility offering 200 MW of power and 800 MWh of energy storage capacity. These two projects are among the largest battery energy storage projects in Poland and will help enhance grid flexibility, promote renewable energy integration, and strengthen the country's energy security.

João Manso Neto, CEO of Greenvolt Group, stated that this financing package reflects the trust of major financial institutions in Greenvolt's capabilities and the quality of its project development. As the company continues to advance one of Europe's largest battery energy storage projects, having strong financial partners is essential to transforming the project portfolio into operational assets that create long-term value.

The Turośń Kościelna project was officially inaugurated in July 2026, and the Ełk project is expected to commence commercial operations in the fourth quarter of this year.

Lazar Nikolic, Managing Director and Head of Infrastructure & Export Finance for Central and Eastern Europe at UniCredit, stated that energy storage is no longer just an emerging technology but a cornerstone of Europe's decarbonization and grid stability. This transaction highlights UniCredit's partnership with Greenvolt across Europe and reinforces its strategic commitment to financing critical green infrastructure and accelerating the energy transition, covering Poland and the broader Central and Eastern European region.
