Belgium's CMB.TECH Sells Seven Tankers for $358.8 Million

en.Wedoany.com Reported - Belgium-based shipping company CMB.TECH NV has sold three VLCCs and four Suezmax tankers, with total proceeds expected to reach $358.8 million.

Among these, the VLCCs "Ilma" and "Ingrid" (both built in 2012, 314,000 DWT) generated combined proceeds of approximately $98.2 million in the second quarter of 2026, calculated based on net sale price versus book value, with both vessels delivered to their new owners during that quarter.

The Suezmax tanker "Sienna" (built in 2007, 150,205 DWT) has also been sold, generating proceeds of $29.2 million from this transaction, with both vessels delivered to their new owners in the second quarter of 2026.

Two additional Suezmax tankers, "Brest" and "Brugge" (both built in 2023, 156,851 DWT), have been sold, generating approximately $100.2 million in the third quarter of 2026 based on net sale price versus book value, with both vessels delivered to their new owners during that quarter.

Vessels delivered in the fourth quarter of 2026 include: the VLCC "Donoussa" (built in 2016, 299,999 DWT), whose sale will generate approximately $74.3 million in proceeds based on net sale price versus book value; and the Suezmax tanker "Bristol" (built in 2024, 156,851 DWT), which has also been sold, bringing approximately $56.9 million in the fourth quarter of 2026 based on net sale price versus book value.

In terms of financial data, CMB.TECH achieved a profit of $364.4 million in the second quarter of 2026, with EBITDA of $552.8 million for the same period.

Alexander Saverys, CEO of CMB.TECH, stated that the company's second-quarter results benefited from the continued strong performance of the tanker and dry bulk markets, and that the company will continue to diversify beyond its tanker operations, complete the acquisition of Golden Ocean, and invest in a forward-looking newbuilding program. He noted that global trade, geopolitical tensions, and the tanker orderbook remain uncertain, but the company is well-positioned to navigate the evolving market environment and continue creating long-term value.

The company has also signed an agreement with Fortescue to charter up to twelve ammonia-powered Newcastlemax vessels of 210,000 DWT.

Regarding newbuildings, nine vessels have been delivered to date in the second and third quarters, including: the Newcastlemax vessels "Mineral Latvija," "Mineral Magyar," "Mineral Eesti," and "Mineral Lietuva"; the VLCC "Morini"; the Suezmax tankers "Cap Grace" and "Cap Joseph"; the CSOV "Windcat Haarlem"; and the CTV "FRS Windcat 65."
