Bengaluru Metro Pink Line Elevated Section Expected to Open in First Week of September
en.Wedoany.com Reported - The elevated section of Namma Metro's Pink Line, originally scheduled to open on August 15, is now expected to be opened to the public in the first week of September, subject to statutory approvals. P.C. Jaffer, Managing Director of Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL), stated that the remaining formalities are only the Railway Board's approval for the rolling stock and the inspection by the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS), as construction and related works have been completed. The exact opening date will depend on the progress of these approvals.

The Railway Board's approval pertains to the certification of the trains planned for operation on the line. Once obtained, the CMRS inspection will assess operational readiness and safety compliance. BMRCL officials have already conducted trial runs and system integration on the elevated section, with commissioning plans ready and pending only statutory clearances. Project managers stated that finishing works, including signal system and ticketing system tests, are being finalized.
Meanwhile, the underground section of the Pink Line, connecting Dairy Circle and Nagawara, has also been prioritized. Karnataka's Minister for Urban Development, Krishna Byre Gowda, recently inspected the section and set mid-2027 as the target for completing the underground segment. BMRCL stated that this timeline is achievable given the current progress. According to reports, civil works on the underground section have been completed, electrification works are nearing completion, and signaling works have commenced.
Once statutory approvals and inspections are concluded, the elevated section is expected to become operational, enhancing connectivity along the Pink Line and providing passengers with more travel options. Officials stated that subsequent construction phases and train deployment will be aligned with passenger operations to improve network-wide reliability. Authorities will continue to monitor project milestones and announce the exact commencement date after obtaining the necessary approvals.
