Chennai Metro Rail Floats Tender for Park Maintenance and Renovation with 730-Day Timeline

en.Wedoany.com Reported - Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) has floated a tender for comprehensive maintenance, repair, and painting works at Thiru Vi Ka Park, located above Shenoy Nagar Metro Station.

According to the tender documents, the contract period is 730 days, with bids due by September 17 and a bid validity of 180 days from the stipulated submission date.

The scope of work includes maintenance of the park's water supply and drainage systems, covering regular inspection, cleaning, and servicing of all pipes, valves, fittings, pumps, and water tanks, as well as timely repair of damaged or faulty components. The contractor is also required to conduct periodic testing and monitoring to ensure water quality is maintained and contamination is prevented. Both routine maintenance tasks and timely repairs are included in the two-year maintenance plan.

During the previous maintenance cycle, CMRL awarded a contract worth Rs 45.9 million to Quess Corp Limited in November 2023. Following the expiry of that agreement, CMRL has issued this new tender. Thiru Vi Ka Park was renovated and reopened after being handed over to CMRL by the Greater Chennai Corporation in April 2023. The park is open to the public during specified hours, balancing community use with operational considerations.

As per the tender requirements, the successful contractor will be responsible for all maintenance, repair, and painting works throughout the contract period, ensuring systems function properly and safety hazards are avoided. CMRL officials stated that maintenance activities will be scheduled reasonably to minimize disruption to visitors and preserve the facility for recreational use. The agency emphasized that this work is part of its ongoing efforts to keep the park safe, clean, and accessible to residents.
