Wison and Shell Sign FLNG Liquefaction Technology Cooperation Agreement

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On August 31, Wison New Energies Technology Group Co., Ltd. signed a cooperation agreement with Shell to integrate Shell's Dual Mixed Refrigerant (DMR) liquefaction technology into Wison's Floating Liquefied Natural Gas (FLNG) product portfolio. Wison New Energies stated that this technology had previously only been applied to projects in which Shell holds an interest, and this cooperation expands its application to the broader FLNG market.

Under the agreement, Wison will adopt Shell's pre-engineered DMR liquefaction technology solution. Shell Catalysts & Technologies will participate in technology integration during the Pre-FEED, FEED, and Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) phases of FLNG projects, and will provide process performance guarantees for the DMR process.

The Shell DMR process employs two mixed refrigerant cycles and can be used for both floating and onshore LNG facilities. According to existing Shell data, this technology has been applied to projects such as Sakhalin LNG, Prelude FLNG, and LNG Canada, with Prelude using DMR as its liquefaction process.

Wison New Energies' existing FLNG business covers engineering, procurement, construction, installation, and commissioning (EPCIC) as well as operations and maintenance. The company's standardized FLNG product series plans liquefaction capacities of 0.6 million tons per year, 1.2 million tons per year, 2.4 million tons per year, 3.6 million tons per year, 4.5 million tons per year, and 6 million tons per year.

In terms of liquefaction process cooperation, Wison signed a strategic framework agreement with Chart Industries in 2024 to use Chart's IPSMR liquefaction process and cold box equipment for FLNG and onshore LNG projects; the two parties had previously cooperated on projects such as Eni Congo FLNG and Genting FLNG. Following this signing with Shell, DMR technology will become another liquefaction process option available for Wison's FLNG projects.
