Australia's Fenix Resources Discloses 26.9 Million Tonnes of Iron Ore Reserves at Beebyn Hub
en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 3, Australian iron ore company Fenix Resources issued an ASX announcement disclosing the updated ore reserve results for its Beebyn Hub. The Beebyn Hub comprises the Beebyn-W11 and Beebyn-W10 iron ore deposits, with combined ore reserves of 26.9 million tonnes at an average iron grade of 60.0%.
By deposit segment, the currently operating Beebyn-W11 mine, following exploration updates, holds ore reserves of 13.1 million tonnes at an iron grade of 61.2%; Beebyn-W10 Stage 1 has reported reserves for the first time, with 13.8 million tonnes at an iron grade of 58.9%. Fenix stated that the reserve scale of the Beebyn Hub supports the company's three-year production plan, enabling a sustainable production rate of up to 6 million tonnes per annum by fiscal year 2028.
Regarding the development of the Beebyn mining area, Fenix has already taken a series of actions. In September 2025, the company signed a mining rights agreement with Sinosteel Midwest Corporation, a subsidiary of China Baowu, securing exclusive mining rights for Beebyn-W10; in July 2026, Beebyn-W10 Stage 1 obtained all mining approvals, with ore production expected to commence in the third quarter of that year, and the first shipment targeted for December 2026. According to the company's three-year production plan released in December 2025, the total iron ore production target for fiscal years 2026 to 2028 (corresponding to the calendar period from July 1, 2025 to June 30, 2028) is 15 million tonnes, reaching a maximum of 6 million tonnes in fiscal year 2028; the Weld Range scoping study also proposes expanding operations to 10 million tonnes per annum by 2031.
The Beebyn Hub is part of Fenix's Weld Range iron ore project, located in the Mid West region of Western Australia, approximately 350 kilometres northeast of the Port of Geraldton, with access to the company's existing mine, road, and port logistics infrastructure. The Weld Range project has mineral resources of approximately 290 million tonnes at an average iron grade of 56.8%. Fenix's currently operating mines include Iron Ridge, Shine, and Beebyn-W11, producing high-grade direct-shipping iron ore, which is transported via its own Fenix Road Logistics and Fenix Port Logistics to the Port of Geraldton for export, with the port having an export capacity of approximately 10 million tonnes per annum.
