en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 8, Sweden's Smartports received investment support of approximately SEK 25 million to build 49 local energy hub projects across Sweden. The projects are included in Sweden's "Klimatklivet" climate investment support program, with all projects scheduled for completion by August 2027 at the latest. The 49 projects collectively include approximately 500 Smartports units, 1.6 MWp of solar PV capacity, and 12 MWh of battery energy storage capacity.

Distribution of Smartports' 49 planned energy hub projects in Sweden

The projects are distributed across multiple regions in northern and southern Sweden, utilizing existing parking areas to build integrated energy facilities equipped with solar PV generation, battery energy storage, electric vehicle charging infrastructure, and covered parking spaces. Smartports is responsible for converting existing parking lots into local energy hubs, where electricity can be produced, stored, and used on-site for vehicle charging and other electricity needs.

The funding Smartports has received comes from the Klimatklivet investment support program, which is managed by the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency and supports tangible investment projects that reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The company has now transitioned from single-project construction to a phase of simultaneous multi-project implementation, with all 49 projects to be completed by August 2027.

Smartports has previously advanced parking lot projects integrating solar PV, storage, and charging in Sweden. On August 27, the company signed a project agreement with Åkersberga Golf Club, planning to build 12 solar carport parking spaces, 12 EV charging points, and a battery energy storage system using the site's existing parking area. The SEK 25 million support corresponds to the batch construction arrangement for the 49 projects, which represents a different implementation level from previous single-site projects.
