Russia's TMH Plans to Jointly Develop 360 km/h High-Speed Train with India
en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 15, Russian transport engineering holding group TMH proposed at the INNOPROM. INDIA exhibition held in New Delhi that it hopes to carry out high-speed railway scientific research and technical cooperation with India, and jointly develop high-speed trains for the Indian market. At the same time, TMH publicly showcased the Ivolga FG high-speed train concept for the first time, with a design speed of 360 km/h, positioned for India's future high-speed railway equipment market.

According to the plan presented by TMH, the Ivolga FG is planned to have an autonomous range of approximately 100 km at a speed of 200 km/h, and can be equipped with GoA3/GoA4 level autonomous driving systems, with obstacle detection distance of up to approximately 2,000 meters. This model is still in the concept and R&D stage, and is not in the same speed class as Russia's existing Ivolga commuter electric multiple units; the existing Ivolga series mainly operates in the 120–160 km/h speed range.
TMH has already established a foundation for localized manufacturing of rail vehicles in India. Kinet Railway Solutions, which it participated in establishing, is advancing the manufacturing and maintenance project for 120 Vande Bharat sleeper EMU trains, with 16 cars per train, produced at the Marathwada Rail Coach Factory in Latur, Maharashtra. If high-speed train cooperation advances further, the existing joint venture manufacturing system can serve as the industrial foundation for subsequent R&D, localized production, and supply chain development.
India has proposed in its railway plan for fiscal year 2026–2027 the construction of 7 new high-speed railway corridors, with a total length of nearly 4,000 km and an estimated investment scale of approximately 16 trillion rupees. The planned routes include Delhi–Varanasi, Varanasi–Patna–Siliguri, Chennai–Bengaluru, Bengaluru–Hyderabad, Chennai–Hyderabad, Mumbai–Pune, and Pune–Hyderabad.
India's current high-speed railway construction still centers on the Mumbai–Ahmedabad project, which has a total length of approximately 508 km and a designed maximum operating speed of 320 km/h. As the 7 new high-speed railway corridors enter the planning system, rolling stock, traction power supply, signaling and communications, track systems, and maintenance equipment will generate new long-term procurement demand. TMH's proposed 360 km/h class train cooperation plan is being carried out precisely against the backdrop of this market expansion.
