Cybastion Plans to Invest US$300 Million in Digital Projects in Senegal

en.Wedoany.com Reported - U.S. technology company Cybastion has announced plans to mobilize approximately US$300 million in Senegal to advance a series of digital projects in cybersecurity, data centers, technology transfer, and digital talent capacity building. The plans were announced during a meeting between Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye and Thierry Wandji, Chairman and CEO of Cybastion, in Washington, and are currently at the stage of investment commitment and project preparation.

The US$300 million will cover multiple projects and does not correspond to a single data center or a single network engineering project. The construction directions that have been identified include cybersecurity and cybercrime prevention systems, data center infrastructure, technology transfer, and local technical capacity building. Local Senegalese technology startups will also be incorporated into the subsequent project implementation system and participate in the construction of related digital infrastructure and application projects.

Data centers are one of the confirmed physical infrastructure directions in this investment plan. At present, the two sides have not yet announced the specific location, IT load scale, number of racks, power supply capacity, cooling solution, construction period, or individual investment amount of the proposed data center, nor have they announced the specific platforms, equipment quantities, or procurement package divisions involved in the cybersecurity projects. The US$300 million is currently the overall project funding scale that Cybastion plans to mobilize, and the allocation ratio of funds among sub-projects has not yet been disclosed.

The projects will also involve national cybersecurity capacity building and the protection of critical digital infrastructure. In 2026, the Senegalese government has continued to advance the development of systems for the security of information systems and critical infrastructure, with related policies covering security monitoring, data encryption, backup, business continuity, and infrastructure resilience. The cybersecurity and cybercrime prevention projects planned by Cybastion will be incorporated into Senegal's current digital infrastructure construction direction.

Senegal is implementing its national digital strategy, the "New Deal Technologique." The strategy is built around four directions: digital sovereignty, digitalization of public services, development of the digital economy, and leadership in Africa's digital sector, and it has formulated a 10-year digital master plan comprising 12 programs and 50 priority projects, with a total planned cost of approximately 1.105 trillion CFA francs. Data security, digital public services, and local technical capacity building all fall within the scope of the strategy's implementation.

Cybastion's previous digital infrastructure projects in Africa cover sovereign data centers, digital platforms for government services, cybersecurity, and related infrastructure. The company's proposed Digital Fast Track system also includes digital infrastructure, AI public services, cybersecurity, energy support, and local talent development. The Senegal project has explicitly incorporated local startups and technical talent into its implementation system.
