Agility Launches Digit 5 Humanoid Robot, Has Secured Over $300 Million in Orders
en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 15, Agility Robotics officially launched its fifth-generation industrial humanoid robot, Digit 5, designed for deployment in manufacturing, warehousing, and logistics scenarios. The new model focuses on improving human-robot collaboration safety, payload capacity, operating range, and continuous operation capability. It has already secured over $300 million in multi-year customer orders. Early customer deployment programs are scheduled to begin in the first half of 2027, with full-scale supply planned to start by the end of 2027.

Digit 5 has a maximum payload of approximately 23 kg and a maximum pick-and-place height of approximately 2.2 meters. It achieves an operating-to-charging time ratio of approximately 10:1, enabling approximately 20 hours of operation within a 24-hour cycle. The robot supports automatic return-to-charge and can switch between different end effectors based on the task, making it suitable for industrial logistics tasks such as tote handling, material transfer, production line feeding, and warehouse loading and unloading.
This upgrade places key emphasis on adding collaborative safety features. Digit 5 continuously identifies nearby personnel through multiple sensors and dedicated algorithms. When personnel enter a defined safety zone, it can perform actions such as avoidance, deceleration, stopping, or lowering its body posture, and signals the robot's direction of movement through visual and audible cues. An independent safety controller is responsible for executing safety responses outside of the main control system.
Agility has also integrated Digit 5 with the NVIDIA IGX Thor and Halos robot safety platform for safety control and AI computing. The company is advancing relevant third-party safety testing and is participating in the development of the ANSI/A3 TR R15.108 technical specification for dynamically stable industrial mobile robots and the ISO 25785-1 humanoid robot safety standard.
Digit 5 was developed based on over 65,000 hours of real-world industrial operation data from previous-generation products. Agility's existing robots have already been deployed in enterprise scenarios including GXO, Schaeffler, Toyota Canada, and Mercado Libre, where the previous-generation Digit primarily handles repetitive tasks such as tote handling, material flow, and production logistics.
Agility disclosed that multi-year orders for Digit 5 currently exceed $300 million, with a customer pipeline of more than 30 companies. The relevant orders remain subject to contractual milestone conditions. The company previously disclosed that these orders are primarily aimed at manufacturing, warehousing, and logistics customers and will be advanced through commercial deployment models such as Robots-as-a-Service.
Digit 5 will be assembled at Agility's RoboFab factory in Salem, Oregon, USA. The factory covers approximately 70,000 square feet and is planned to reach a maximum annual production capacity of 10,000 robots. Following this launch, the company will continue to expand Digit 5 production and advance delivery of existing customer orders.
