Canada's Swiss Water Invests US$6.2 Million to Expand Delta Decaffeinated Coffee Plant

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 16, Canada's Swiss Water Decaffeinated Coffee announced that it will invest US$6.2 million to expand its decaffeinated coffee production facility in Delta, British Columbia. Upon completion of the expansion, the plant's production volume will increase by 15% over its current maximum capacity. The project is scheduled to break ground in the first quarter of 2027, complete construction in June 2027, and enter commercial operation in July 2027; existing production activities will continue during construction, with no production shutdown planned.

This expansion corresponds to Swiss Water's existing Delta production base. According to the company's 2025 annual information form, the site covers approximately 5.9 acres, with a plant area of approximately 128,000 square feet and two existing Swiss Water Process production lines. The first production line was completed in 2020, and the second production line was completed and put into operation in the third quarter of 2023. Both production lines are currently concentrated at the Delta base.

Under the funding arrangement disclosed by the company, most of the US$6.2 million investment will be financed internally through operating cash flow, with the remainder drawn from existing credit facilities. This investment is a capacity expansion of an existing production facility and does not involve building a new standalone plant. The project is currently in the investment decision and construction preparation stage. The next milestone is the start of construction in the first quarter of 2027, followed by completion of construction and then commercial operation.

The Delta base primarily handles the decaffeination of green coffee beans using the company's proprietary Swiss Water Process. Both existing production lines at the base are in operation, and after the second line was completed in 2023, Swiss Water further consolidated its original production activities at the Delta base. This US$6.2 million expansion will add processing capacity on top of the existing production system, rather than adding a third production base.

Swiss Water had already reserved conditions for subsequent capacity expansion when it originally built the Delta base. According to the company's historical project materials, the Delta plant is located on approximately 6 acres of leased land, and the first production line achieved commercial-scale product production in 2020; the second line was subsequently built and put into operation in 2023. This new 15% capacity project constitutes a new round of capital expansion for the base after both production lines became fully operational.
