Lithuania's LTG Infra Signs with Indra to Upgrade National Railway Traffic Management System
en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 16, Lithuanian public railway infrastructure manager LTG Infra signed a contract with Spanish technology company Indra to upgrade its railway traffic management system, deploying the next-generation TMS 3.0 traffic management system, with Indra providing system technical maintenance services for the next 10 years. The new system will be used for train operation organization, traffic planning, and real-time dispatching across Lithuania's railway network. The contract value was not disclosed.

TMS 3.0 adopts cloud computing and a microservices architecture, allowing new traffic management functions to be deployed incrementally without replacing the overall platform architecture. The system will provide railway dispatchers with a unified interface for railway network operations, integrating real-time train operation information for traffic planning, line capacity configuration, and operational adjustments. LTG Infra stated that the new system will also increase computing and planning processing speeds and support the subsequent addition of new railway traffic management modules.
One of the core functions of this upgrade is to increase the level of automation in train operation management. TMS 3.0 can automatically identify potential train operation conflicts and provide dispatchers with real-time resolution support, while also covering safety-critical function management. The system will also strengthen security controls and cybersecurity capabilities for network operation data and the traffic management platform.
Indra has previously provided signaling, communications, and railway traffic management technology to the Lithuanian railway system and connected the relevant systems to Lithuania's national railway traffic control center. In 2024, LTG Infra and Indra also signed a letter of intent for cooperation to research and develop a digital interlocking system based on open standards and compatible with ERTMS Level 2. This TMS 3.0 contract corresponds to the upgrade and long-term maintenance of the existing railway traffic management platform, and belongs to a different project level from the previous digital interlocking technology cooperation.
LTG Infra is responsible for the operation, maintenance, renewal, and development of Lithuania's public railway infrastructure, and undertakes the organization and management of railway transport traffic nationwide. Its current infrastructure digitalization plan has identified a unified traffic management system, station digitalization, and signaling system modernization as key construction directions.
