Wedoany.com Report-Jun 26, A significant segment of China’s west-to-east gas transmission project commenced operations on June 26, 2025, enhancing the country’s energy distribution and sustainability efforts.

The Gansu-Ningxia section, stretching from Turpan in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region to Zhongwei in Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, was officially launched, according to PipeChina, the project’s construction company. This pipeline significantly strengthens cross-regional natural gas distribution, facilitating efficient energy resource allocation.

The Turpan-Zhongwei pipeline can transport 15 billion cubic meters of natural gas annually, equivalent to the energy output of over 27 million tonnes of standard coal. This capacity is expected to reduce carbon emissions by approximately 50 million tonnes each year, supporting cleaner energy use.

As part of the fourth west-to-east gas transmission pipeline, the Turpan-Zhongwei section contributes to China’s broader strategy to channel abundant energy resources from western production areas to high-demand eastern markets. This project, alongside three other transmission pipelines, optimizes the country’s energy distribution framework.

The operation of this pipeline section marks a step forward in improving energy security and supporting sustainable development by ensuring a stable supply of natural gas to meet growing demand across regions.
