en.Wedoany.com Reported - Maxis recently deployed Nokia's optical transport technology to upgrade its nationwide and cross-border network infrastructure, in response to the rapid growth in demand for artificial intelligence (AI) and enterprise connectivity.

Maxis Enhances Nationwide Network with Nokia Optical Transport Technology

Maxis Business is the trusted digital infrastructure and connectivity partner for enterprises in Malaysia, and currently connects more than 50 data centers in the country. This deployment enhances its ability to serve this sector, expanding its enterprise portfolio so that hyperscalers and customers can obtain consistent, high-quality performance.

At the technical level, Maxis adopted Nokia 1830 PSS and PSE-6 optical technology to achieve up to 1.2 Tbps capacity per channel. By using C+L band technology to extend the transmission spectrum, the carrying capacity of existing fiber is doubled; Nokia WaveSuite automation ensures the network has high resilience.

For enterprise customers, this means a fast, reliable and secure network capable of carrying mission-critical workloads. OTT (over-the-top) service providers and hyperscalers can also thereby deliver high-capacity 4K media streaming, high-density AI computing, data center interconnection and large-scale data backup without latency.

By modernizing its optical transport network, Maxis is supporting Malaysia's digital goal of becoming a regional digital hub, providing capacity support for next-generation digital services.

Prateek Pashine, Chief Enterprise Business Officer of Maxis, said that the cooperation with Nokia strengthens the optical network foundation of its network, enabling it to meet growing traffic demands while providing connectivity experiences for global and domestic customers; these customers need resilient, secure, high-capacity, low-latency networks to manage AI workloads and connect their Malaysian data centers with the rest of the world. He also said that this deployment helps support and advance the government's digital transformation agenda, and he looks forward to continuing to work with Nokia in future plans.

Ming Kin Ngiam, Head of Nokia Southeast Asia, said that Nokia's next-generation optical network technology enables service providers such as Maxis to build scalable transport networks to cope with the rapid growth of AI, cloud and enterprise traffic. The two sides are jointly building a future-ready optical network foundation, connecting the intelligence emerging in the AI, cloud and enterprise ecosystems, while supporting robust connectivity and emerging digital services.
