12.2 Tons of Peruvian Blueberries Shipped from Chancay Port, First Pilot of Cold Treatment Probe Regulatory Mutual Recognition

en.Wedoany.com Reported - Recently, 12.2 tons of fresh Peruvian blueberries were loaded into refrigerated containers at Chancay Port and shipped to Shanghai aboard the COSCO Shipping Lines WSA5 "Chancay–Shanghai" express service. This batch of goods was the first to pilot the application of the cold treatment probe regulatory mutual recognition model for imported fruit, incorporating probe monitoring during the cold treatment process into the collaborative regulatory procedures of both China and Peru.

In-transit cold treatment is a critical step in the quarantine of fresh Peruvian fruit exported to China. Refrigerated containers must continuously record fruit temperatures and related temperature data, based on which the cold treatment efficacy is reviewed. Shanghai Customs had previously applied an intelligent cold treatment evaluation method in imported fruit regulation, improving the verification efficiency of cold treatment results for imported fruit by receiving and reviewing cold treatment data. At the end of 2025, Shanghai Customs disclosed that eligible shipping companies could automatically push cold treatment data to the customs system.

The "Chancay–Shanghai" direct route has now established regular services including COSCO Shipping Lines WSA5. The sea voyage from Chancay Port to Shanghai takes approximately 23 days, significantly shorter than the previous traditional transport cycle of 35 to 40 days. On July 4, 2026, the first batch of 11.7 tons of Peruvian blueberries of this production season arrived at Shanghai Yangshan Port from Chancay Port and underwent port inspection by Yangshan Customs and intelligent evaluation of cold treatment efficacy.

Chancay Port has now established trunk routes including WSA3, WSA5, and ACSA1, among which WSA5 handles transport in the Chancay–Shanghai direction. Peruvian blueberries, grapes, avocados, and other fresh fruits have become important cargo categories for the port's cold chain exports. The Shanghai port is also the main channel for Peruvian fruit entering the Chinese market. In the first 11 months of 2025, the value of Peruvian fruit imported through the Shanghai port reached 2.58 billion yuan, accounting for more than 70% of the national total.
