OpenAI Prepares Always-On Assistant "o" for $100 Pro Plan in the US

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 29, OpenAI officially launched its always-on agent product Dots and began a phased rollout to ChatGPT Pro, Business Premium, and Enterprise users. Previously, some ChatGPT Pro pages briefly displayed an "always-on assistant" description named "o," and the latest official release has confirmed the official product name as Dots.

Dots is powered by GPT-6 Astra. Each agent has its own independent cloud computer and browser and can continue advancing tasks without the user continuously providing instructions. Users can view the working process of its cloud computer at any time and can authorize Dots to connect to their local computer to execute tasks across browsers, applications, and the local environment.

The product can connect to more than 4,000 applications through plug-ins and can be invoked directly in ChatGPT, Slack, and Microsoft Teams. Users can continuously add new tasks to Dots, and the agent can advance multiple projects simultaneously and gradually learn work preferences, task standards, and handling methods based on user feedback.

Use cases provided by OpenAI include software troubleshooting, converting design mockups into applications, project advancement, and administrative task handling. In internal use cases, Dots can proactively launch an investigation after a software issue appears in Slack and can also generate a runnable application based on a new design. In external testing, the agent also once identified an unfinished invoice matter, generated an invoice, and sent it after user approval.

In the first phase, each user can create one primary Dots and can customize its name and way of working. OpenAI later plans to support multiple Dots working collaboratively, and is currently testing specialized Dots for fixed responsibilities within enterprises, used for identity and permission management, IT device configuration, and connecting to core enterprise business systems.
