KT Cloud of South Korea Participates in Building a 50 MW Data Center in Incheon
en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 7, KT Cloud of South Korea confirmed its participation as a design, build, and operate (DBO) partner in the artificial intelligence data center project in the Cheongna area of Incheon. The project is planned to have an incoming power capacity of 50 MW, with a building scale of 2 basement floors and 11 above-ground floors. Construction is scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter of 2026 and be completed in the first quarter of 2030. The project is being advanced by the Cheongna IDC project company, and KT Cloud is responsible for data center construction and related subsequent operations.

Under the project division of responsibilities, KT Cloud is responsible for design consulting, engineering management of major mechanical and electrical equipment, system commissioning, operational stability verification, and facility operations after completion. Hyundai Engineering, as a joint construction contractor, is responsible for architectural, civil engineering, equipment installation, landscaping, and communications works, and also participates in the construction of mechanical, electrical, and piping systems. The two parties will respectively assume responsibilities related to project construction and data center operations.
The data center is planned to include an artificial intelligence computing zone and a general cloud service zone. The artificial intelligence computing zone will deploy high-density graphics processing unit (GPU) servers and adopt direct-to-chip liquid cooling technology to provide heat dissipation support for high-power computing equipment. The general cloud service zone will be configured independently to carry enterprise cloud computing and other conventional computing services. The project also plans to deploy DIMS, KT Cloud's independently developed integrated data center management system, for facility operation monitoring and management.
The Cheongna data center will be connected with KT Cloud's existing data centers in Gasan, Mokdong, and other areas of the Seoul metropolitan area, providing infrastructure support for customers to expand computing resources and conduct cross-data center operations. KT Cloud is also advancing large-scale data center projects in non-capital areas such as Gunsan, and plans to build an artificial intelligence data center supply capacity of more than 1 GW by 2031.
