en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 7, Calgon Carbon Corporation announced that it had completed the expansion and facility upgrade project at its Crosby, Texas plant. The project involved a multimillion-dollar investment, and after the expansion, the plant's regenerated activated carbon output capacity is nearly double the original, with the additional processing capacity primarily serving industrial customers along the U.S. Gulf Coast. The company is a wholly owned subsidiary of Japan's Kuraray Group.

The Crosby plant primarily conducts thermal regeneration of spent activated carbon, restoring the adsorption performance of used activated carbon through heat treatment processes so that it can be reintroduced into industrial purification systems. This expansion has increased the plant's regenerated activated carbon output capacity, enabling it to handle the spent activated carbon processing needs of more industrial customers. The company has not yet disclosed the specific annual production capacity before and after the expansion, the actual investment amount, or the configuration of newly added equipment.

Calgon Carbon acquired the Crosby plant-related business in 2024, incorporating it into its U.S. activated carbon regeneration facility network. The plant is located in the Gulf Coast industrial region of Texas and primarily serves the local industrial purification market. This expansion is a capacity enhancement project implemented approximately two years after the completion of the acquisition.

Calgon Carbon operates activated carbon manufacturing, regeneration processing, research and development, and equipment manufacturing facilities in the United States, Asia, and Europe, with a total of 20 related facilities worldwide. The company produces and supplies coal-based, wood-based, and coconut shell-based activated carbon, and offers granular, powdered, and other forms of activated carbon products, serving industrial water treatment, wastewater treatment, pollution control, and manufacturing purification processes.
