China's Wind Power Installed Capacity Reaches 693 Million Kilowatts, Ranking First Globally for 16 Consecutive Years
en.Wedoany.com Reported - From January to August 2026, China's newly grid-connected wind power capacity reached 53.26 million kilowatts. As of the end of August, the country's cumulative grid-connected wind power capacity reached 692.72 million kilowatts, a year-on-year increase of 19.64%. Information provided by the Chinese Wind Energy Association of the China Renewable Energy Society shows that China's wind power installed capacity has ranked first in the world for 16 consecutive years, and the scope of wind turbine exports has further expanded. Electricity statistics released by the National Energy Administration on September 24 also confirmed that as of the end of August, the country's wind power installed capacity was approximately 693 million kilowatts.
China's wind turbine exports have covered 60 countries across six continents, and seven domestic wind turbine manufacturers have established overseas factories or are advancing plans to build overseas factories. Overseas business layouts cover complete turbine exports, localized production, and related manufacturing capacity building, with wind power equipment exports and overseas industrial base construction proceeding in parallel.
Data previously released by the National Energy Administration shows that in the first half of 2026, China's newly grid-connected wind power capacity was 38.62 million kilowatts, with cumulative installed capacity reaching 679 million kilowatts as of the end of June. Compared with the end of June, China's cumulative wind power installed capacity increased by approximately 13.72 million kilowatts by the end of August. National electricity statistics released by the National Energy Administration on September 24 also show that the country's total installed power generation capacity reached 4.103 billion kilowatts, of which wind power accounted for approximately 16.9%.
According to the 2025 wind power installation capacity statistics released by the Chinese Wind Energy Association of the China Renewable Energy Society, China's wind turbine industry maintained large-scale equipment deliveries. In 2025, China added 18,272 wind turbine units with a total capacity of approximately 130 million kilowatts; newly added wind turbine export capacity was 7.734 million kilowatts, a year-on-year increase of 48.9%.
