en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 20, Musk stated at SpaceX's Q3 earnings conference call that Terafab, the chip manufacturing project jointly advanced by SpaceX and Tesla, plans to achieve large-scale production in Q3 2028. Musk also noted that this timeline represents Terafab's current internal target, and the actual realization time may fall in Q3 or Q4 2028.

According to the current R&D schedule, Terafab's R&D facility in Austin, Texas, plans to manufacture its first fully functional test chip in May or June 2027. The chip will use static random-access memory (SRAM) circuits, primarily for testing the chip production line and manufacturing processes, providing validation for subsequent mass production.

Terafab's main mass production base is located in Gibbons Creek, Texas. Musk stated that ASML and other equipment suppliers are accelerating equipment deliveries to support project construction and production preparation. Terafab plans to integrate advanced logic chip and memory chip manufacturing, advanced packaging, and testing, with a long-term goal of achieving chip production capacity capable of providing 1 terawatt of computing power per year.
