en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 23, the Los Azules copper project in San Juan Province, Argentina, resumed normal operations at the Candadito high-altitude logistics camp, restarting road and infrastructure preparation work leading to the mining area. The camp, located at an elevation of 3,150 meters, currently has accommodation capacity for 36 people. The project operator has completed repairs to the camp access road, facility preparations, and restoration of basic services. The next phase of work includes improvements to existing roads, surveying and layout of new road routes, and culvert construction.

The Candadito camp is located in the Calingasta department of San Juan Province, 54 kilometers from the town of Calingasta and 79 kilometers from the town of Barreal. It serves as an intermediate logistics support station for mine personnel, construction equipment, and material transport. The camp handles personnel rotation, temporary accommodation, and equipment transfer tasks. Food, drinking water, and fuel supplies have now been restored, enabling support for high-altitude road construction and on-site operations.

In July of this year, the project operator carried out a preventive evacuation of personnel due to severe winter weather conditions in the mountainous area, suspending on-site camp operations. As weather conditions improved, the project's safety and health, roads, and integrated services departments worked jointly with the camp contractor to carry out restoration work, focusing on clearing and repairing access roads, preparing accommodation facilities, and restarting supply services. Personnel have now re-entered the camp and normal logistics support has resumed.

Following the resumption of operations, road works at the mining area will proceed according to the established plan, including improving existing access roads, conducting survey and staking as well as route adjustments for newly planned roads, and constructing supporting road infrastructure such as culverts. These works are part of the infrastructure preparation ahead of formal construction of the Los Azules copper mine, serving the subsequent entry of personnel, construction machinery, and engineering materials into the mining area.
