en.Wedoany.com Reported - On November 3, U.S. coking coal producer Ramaco Resources released its third-quarter operating results. As of September 30, the company's 2026 coking coal sales commitments reached approximately 4.2 million short tons, an increase of 400,000 short tons from 3.8 million short tons at the end of June. Of this total, 3.4 million short tons have been locked in at a fixed price averaging $120 per short ton, while another 800,000 short tons of export coal are priced on an index-linked basis.

In the North American market, 1.3 million short tons of coking coal sales have been locked in at an average fixed selling price of $137 per short ton; in the seaborne export market, 2.1 million short tons have been locked in at an average fixed price of $110 per short ton. The company adjusted its full-year 2026 coking coal sales volume forecast to 4.0 million to 4.1 million short tons, and its production forecast to 3.5 million to 3.6 million short tons.

New progress has been made on 2027 sales contracts. Ramaco signed agreements with North American customers for 1.7 million short tons of coking coal sales at an average fixed price of $139 per short ton, an increase of approximately 31% over the 1.3 million short tons locked in for the North American market in 2026. The company also secured 1.1 million short tons of export sales commitments, bringing total contracted sales for 2027 to 2.8 million short tons.

As of September 30, 2026, Ramaco held approximately 900,000 short tons of washed clean coal and equivalent coal inventory, a decrease of 200,000 short tons from the first-quarter peak of approximately 1.1 million short tons. The company has begun selling some of its previously accumulated inventory into the spot market. In the third quarter, the average U.S. low-volatile and high-volatile coking coal price indices reached $174 per short ton, up 4% from the second quarter, with recent spot prices reaching $191 per short ton.

Ramaco plans to bring the third mining section at the Berwind mine and the first underground mining section at the Maben mine into operation by the end of 2026, expected to add approximately 600,000 short tons of annualized low-volatile coking coal capacity. A new rail loading facility at the Maben mining area is scheduled for completion in January 2027, expected to reduce coal transportation costs at the mining area by approximately $20 per short ton.
