en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 29, the Quang Ninh Provincial Government of Vietnam released progress on coal industry projects, confirming that the Vietnam National Coal-Mineral Industries Holding Corporation Limited (Vinacomin, or TKV) is advancing 18 local coal mine development projects, of which 13 are in the investment implementation stage and 5 are in the investment preparation stage. The projects cover underground coal mine development, deep mining, and open-pit mine expansion. The group plans to maintain domestic commercial coal output at approximately 40 million tonnes per year from 2026 to 2030, with supporting construction of coal preparation and processing facilities and coal transport infrastructure.

Among the 18 coal mine projects, the Khe Chàm II–IV underground coal mine is planned for a raw coal production capacity of 3.5 million tonnes per year, with basic construction expected to be completed in 2026; the Cao Sơn coal mine expansion and renovation project plans to increase annual production capacity to 4.5 million tonnes, with basic construction expected to be completed in 2027. The two projects respectively involve the construction of an underground coal mining system and the capacity expansion of an existing open-pit mine.

In the coal processing segment, the group plans to advance 4 large-scale coal preparation and processing projects by 2030. The concentrated coal processing and storage center in the Ha Long area is designed with an annual processing capacity of 5 million tonnes; the Nam Mẫu and Mạo Khê coal preparation plants are each planned with an annual processing capacity of 2.5 million tonnes; and the Đồng Vông coal mine coal preparation system is planned with an annual processing capacity of 1.5 million to 2 million tonnes.

In terms of coal transport infrastructure, the group also plans to implement 6 port and storage projects and 6 conveyor belt projects. Among them, the Núi Béo—Hà Tu—Coal Processing Center—Làng Khánh coal conveyor belt system, constructed by Ha Long Coal Preparation Company, was completed and put into operation in early October 2026, with a total project investment exceeding VND 761.3 billion.

Under the group's 2026–2030 coal supply plan, in addition to domestic production of approximately 40 million tonnes of commercial coal, it also plans to import 10 million to 20 million tonnes of coal per year, organizing supply in coordination with existing and planned coal processing, storage, and transport systems.
