en.Wedoany.com Reported - On November 2, Italian metallurgical equipment manufacturer Danieli announced that Mexican steel company Deacero has successfully completed the first billet casting at its new mini-mill in Ramos Arizpe, Coahuila, marking the first production validation milestone for the continuous casting system supplied by Danieli. The plant is designed with an annual capacity of 1.5 million tons and is oriented toward the production of large structural sections. Equipment commissioning is currently being carried out in phases, and the facility has not yet entered full commercial production.

The billet casting was carried out using a startup scheme that operates new and existing steelmaking facilities in coordination. The new continuous casting system was first connected to the existing electric arc furnace at Steelmaking Plant No. 1, using the existing steelmaking equipment to supply molten steel, while commissioning of the new electric arc furnace at Steelmaking Plant No. 2 continues. This operating configuration enables the continuous casting equipment to carry out production validation before the new electric arc furnace completes commissioning.

According to the project schedule published by Danieli, after the first billet casting, the project will proceed to the next stage of continuous casting commissioning, with beam blank production planned to start in the coming weeks. Once the beam blank continuous casting system is put into operation, the plant will continue to advance the startup of the large structural section production line, progressively completing the commissioning of the production process from billet casting to structural section manufacturing.
