The U.S.-manufactured electric sedan, produced by Lucid Motors, traveled 1,205 kilometers (749 miles) from St. Moritz, Switzerland, to Munich, Germany, surpassing the previous record of 1,045 kilometers set in June. The route included alpine roads, highways, and secondary roads, showcasing the vehicle’s versatility.

The Lucid Air Grand Touring, equipped with Samsung SDI’s 21700 cylindrical batteries, boasts a battery pack capable of gaining up to 400 kilometers of range in just 16 minutes of charging. The vehicle delivers up to 831 horsepower, accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in as little as 3.2 seconds, and reaches a top speed of 270 km/h. Samsung SDI highlighted that the record was enabled by Lucid’s advanced powertrain, design, and engineering, combined with their battery technology, which optimizes cell performance and ultrafast charging capabilities.

A Samsung SDI official stated in a press release: “With Samsung SDI’s cylindrical battery powering the world's longest-range vehicle, we have proven our technological prowess. We will strengthen our partnership with Lucid to expand our global market share and accelerate the development of products that combine differentiated performance and safety.” This achievement underscores the successful collaboration between Samsung SDI and Lucid Motors, which began in 2016 with battery supplies for the Lucid Air Dream Edition and subsequent models.
