Wedoany.com Report-Aug. 8, Sallaum Lines, a global Roll-on/Roll-off (RoRo) carrier, announced the early delivery of the MV Ocean Breeze, the first in a series of six green Pure Car and Truck Carriers (PCTCs) being built in China. Constructed by Fujian Mawei Shipbuilding, the vessel was delivered four months ahead of schedule. This marks a notable milestone in Sallaum Lines' strategy to enhance its presence in sustainable shipping and to expand its China-centered logistics network.

The Ocean Breeze, with a capacity of 7,500 car equivalent units (CEU), is powered by a dual-fuel LNG main engine and equipped with electric RoRo systems. Its ultra-low-emission profile enables it to transport a variety of cargo types, including conventional vehicles, new energy vehicles (NEVs), and packaged hazardous goods. The vessel has been classified by the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) and exceeds current International Maritime Organization (IMO) decarbonization standards.

The project reflects growing cooperation between international shipping companies and China’s shipbuilding industry. The financing of the Ocean Breeze was supported by Shenzhen Capital Group Co., Ltd, which provided a tailored leasing solution. This cooperation underscores the increasing role of Chinese financial services in facilitating environmentally focused maritime development.

In addition to its shipbuilding orders, Sallaum Lines has opened a new office in Shanghai to strengthen direct support for Chinese automotive original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). The company plans to continue working with Chinese shipyards, including Fujian Mawei and CMHI Jinling, for the construction of five more eco-friendly PCTCs. These moves are part of a broader effort to build long-term partnerships across the shipping, financing, and logistics sectors in China.

Commenting on the delivery, Mr. Sami Sallaum, Chairman of Sallaum Lines, stated: “Our relationship with Chinese partners is rooted in trust, performance, and a shared commitment to sustainable maritime development. The Ocean Breeze showcases not just cutting-edge green technology, but also the power of international cooperation to accelerate the future of shipping.”

The vessel’s early completion and advanced capabilities signal Sallaum Lines’ strong alignment with industry trends toward cleaner transport and greater efficiency. The company’s investment in low-emission vessels and expansion in China aligns with a strategic vision for more sustainable and globally integrated operations.

This delivery further positions Sallaum Lines as a key player in the development of environmentally advanced maritime transport, supported by growing collaboration with Chinese shipbuilders and financiers. The remaining vessels in the series are expected to continue reinforcing this partnership and contributing to global low-carbon shipping initiatives.
