Wedoany.com Report-Aug. 13, Websol Energy System, an Indian solar technology company, plans to double its solar cell production capacity to 1.2 GW with the addition of a new 600 MW mono PERC cell line, set to begin commercial operations in October 2025. The company currently operates 600 MW of mono passivated emitter rear contact (PERC) cell capacity and 550 MW of module capacity.

In the first quarter of fiscal 2026, Websol reported operational revenue of INR 2.19 billion, a 96% increase from the previous year. Profit after tax surged by 191%, reaching INR 670 million compared to INR 230 million in the first quarter of fiscal 2025.

Sohan Lal Agarwal, managing director of Websol, stated: “During the quarter, Websol launched solar kits for the domestic market. The company is also in advanced stages of finalizing agreements with national and regional players, which is expected to generate additional contributions beyond the solar module price. These contracts are aligned with key national initiatives such as the PM-KUSUM Solar Pumps Project and the Domestic Content Requirement (DCR) framework, reinforcing our role in supporting India’s renewable energy ambition.”

Agarwal highlighted the strong demand for advanced solar technologies in India, driven by the national goal of achieving 280 GW of installed solar capacity by 2030. He noted that supportive policies and clear deployment targets are fueling growth in the sector. Websol’s expansion plans remain on track, with the installation and commissioning of the new 600 MW solar cell line nearing completion. Trial production is scheduled for September 2025, with commercial operations starting in October 2025. This expansion is expected to significantly boost revenue starting in the third quarter of fiscal 2026.

The new cell line will enhance Websol’s ability to meet rising demand for reliable solar solutions, contributing to India’s renewable energy goals. The company’s partnerships and alignment with national initiatives position it as a key player in advancing sustainable energy infrastructure. By expanding its manufacturing capacity and introducing solar kits, Websol supports the adoption of clean energy solutions across domestic markets, driving both economic and environmental benefits.
