Wedoany.com Report-Oct. 31, New Holland has introduced the T7.270 Methane Power CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) tractor, expanding its T7 Range first unveiled in 2023. Orders for the tractor in Europe will open at the end of 2025, with first deliveries expected in spring 2026.

Rising diesel costs have increased interest in the methane-powered concept, particularly among larger arable farms operating bio-digester plants and dairy operations with abundant livestock effluent and manure. For arable farms, the tractor offers a viable solution for fleets of haulage tractors.

Developed in partnership with Bennamann, the T7.270 Methane Power captures, processes, and refines fugitive methane for use as fuel. Its closed-loop system reduces emissions, lowers fertiliser use, and offers the potential for a negative carbon footprint.

The tractor is powered by the proven NEF 6.7-litre six-cylinder engine, upgraded with a high-performance turbo, a new engine dataset, specific fuel system, and updated after-treatment layout. It delivers a maximum 270hp and peak torque of 1160 Nm, meeting performance expectations while offering a 750-hour service interval.

New Holland’s larger T7 chassis allows for optimised on-board gas storage, with a standard 657-litre capacity and an optional 480-litre range extender, providing a total of 1106 litres (204.1kg). With the range extender, the tractor can operate up to 11 hours in transport applications before refuelling through an NGV2 valve, offering refuelling times comparable to diesel.

The T7.270 Methane Power features New Holland’s Auto Command continuously variable transmission, delivering efficient fuel consumption and a smooth ride, particularly with high-capacity trailers. The tractor also comes equipped with the Horizon Ultra cab, reportedly the industry’s quietest at 66 decibels, providing increased space and advanced suspension.

Operators benefit from the PLM Intelligence platform and the IntelliView 12 interface integrated into the SideWinder armrest. Full TIM compatibility ensures seamless implement integration at both the front and rear. New Holland Intelligence solutions allow two-way transfer of machine and field data between the tractor and the FieldOps portal. Data is automatically recorded, enabling owners and managers to monitor machine performance while dealers, with permission, can provide remote support.

The T7.270 Methane Power represents a significant step toward sustainable farming, combining advanced engine technology, efficient fuel management, and comprehensive digital integration.
