Wedoany.com Report-Nov. 22, Contemporary Amperex Technology (CATL) has formed a strategic partnership with EACON Mining Technology to advance electric and autonomous haulage solutions for the global mining sector.

The alliance is set to deliver scalable autonomous haulage systems for open-pit mining operations.

The cooperation combines CATL’s battery technology with EACON’s autonomous driving systems to develop intelligent, safe, and environmentally friendly mining operations. The alliance focuses on improving operational efficiency, enhancing worker safety, and reducing environmental impact across open-pit mining sites worldwide.

Key objectives include creating battery systems optimised for harsh mining environments and deploying scalable electric autonomous haulage fleets. The partners plan to build on successful pilot projects conducted in China and extend proven solutions to international mining operations.

The collaboration covers technology development, capital investment, market expansion, and ecosystem integration, supporting the mining industry’s transition toward greener and more automated practices.

EACON operates the world’s largest autonomous haulage fleet, with over 2,000 automated trucks deployed across 25 projects involving commodities including coal, iron ore, copper, gold, and zinc.

The partnership strengthens both companies’ positions in delivering integrated electric autonomous systems, contributing to higher productivity and sustainability standards in global mining operations.
