Wedoany.com Report-Nov. 30, NKT, a Danish manufacturer of power cables and installation services, has launched a major expansion of its medium-voltage cable accessories factory in Nordenham, Germany, to address strong and sustained European demand.

The upgrade will increase production capacity by more than 50 percent, with new facilities scheduled to reach full operation in 2026. The investment primarily targets additional machinery for silicone-based medium-voltage accessories, the site's main product line.

Denis Schuler, Executive Vice President and Head of Accessories at NKT, said: "We are experiencing substantial demand for our medium-voltage power cable accessories, particularly from Central Europe, the global wind sector, and Original Equipment Manufacturer customers. To stay ahead in delivery performance, market needs, and competitiveness, we have initiated this significant capacity upgrade. This expansion reflects our continued commitment to supporting the energy transition and reinforcing our position as a trusted partner to customers across Europe and beyond."

The project will also strengthen workforce development at the Nordenham plant, which currently employs around 320 people, and may include future staff growth.

Cable accessories are regarded as a critical component in the ongoing modernisation of power networks worldwide. The expansion in Nordenham complements NKT's broader strategy to scale both manufacturing and installation capabilities across its operations.

The Nordenham facility joined NKT in 1999 through the acquisition of Felten & Guilleaume from the Moeller Group. In parallel, the company is completing a separate capacity upgrade at its high-voltage cable accessories plant in Alingsås, Sweden.

With these investments, NKT aims to secure reliable supply of essential grid components, supporting the accelerated deployment of renewable energy projects and the overall reinforcement of electricity infrastructure throughout Europe.
