Wedoany.com Report-Dec.9, Brazil's grain exporters association Anec has lowered its 2025 corn export forecast by 1 million tonnes to 41 million tonnes, reflecting stronger-than-expected domestic consumption.
The adjustment is primarily attributed to rapid expansion in Brazil's corn-based ethanol production and continued growth in the livestock sector, where corn remains the principal feed ingredient. Rising output from pork and poultry processors, together with increasing meat exports, has further tightened domestic availability.
Despite the revised outlook, Brazil's 2025 corn exports would still show year-on-year growth from the 37.8 million tonnes shipped in 2024. December 2025 shipments alone are projected at 4.99 million tonnes, marking a 38% increase over December 2024.
In contrast, Anec maintained its record-high soybean export forecast at 110 million tonnes for 2025, up from 97.3 million tonnes in 2024. The increase is supported by favourable harvest prospects and sustained strong demand, particularly from China.
The divergent trends highlight Brazil’s evolving role as both a leading global grain supplier and a major internal consumer, with domestic industries increasingly competing for available crop volumes.
