Wedoany.com Report-Dec.11, BASF has launched Lupragen® N 208, a new low-emission reactive amine catalyst for polyurethane foam production. The product will be manufactured at the company's integrated Verbund site in Ludwigshafen, Germany, and marketed globally under the established Lupragen trademark.

Lupragen N 208 complements BASF's existing blowing catalyst Lupragen N 205. As a reactive catalyst, it becomes chemically bound within the polyurethane polymer matrix during foaming, virtually eliminating volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions and associated odours. This property makes the catalyst particularly suitable for interior applications and products subject to stringent emission standards, including automotive interiors, furniture, and bedding.

The introduction expands BASF's comprehensive Lupragen portfolio, which offers manufacturers a broad selection of catalysts to precisely control gelling and blowing reactions in flexible, semi-rigid, and rigid PU systems. The range supports compliance with evolving environmental regulations while maintaining high foam quality and processing efficiency.

As one of the world's largest amine producers, BASF continues to invest in innovative solutions that help polyurethane processors reduce environmental impact and improve end-product performance. Lupragen N 208 is immediately available for commercial orders and can be integrated into existing formulations with minimal adjustment.

The launch reinforces BASF's commitment to sustainable chemistry and supports the polyurethane industry's transition toward lower-emission manufacturing processes worldwide.
